No More Monthly Editorial.

Here's a game I've been playing a lot lately! I absolutely love this action card!

It's the new year, and I think we need to change the blog editorial a bit. Just like the world events, we are also constantly changing, and hopefully for the better. We started out with the Monthly Editorial post, so that we can inform our dear readers about what's in store for the given month.

But after 3 months of trying to keep up with the schedule, we've learnt that it is not always easy to do so, not to mention stressful too. Many a times, items that have being promised to us for reviews don't quite make it in time for a variety of reasons beyond the dealer's control, or when they do make it, it's rather late and we have to frantically rush up our reviews.

I personally, feel that when we blog about our hifi endeavours, it should be fun, not done under duress pressure and preferably with time on our side. So we have decided that we would prefer NOT to have a Monthly Editorial.

It's not that we have anything less to write about, but we'd rather do so at our own time. Well if you look at it on the bright side, there's an element of surprise every time you log in for a read. We seek your understanding to our plight and please continue to support us as you've done.

We appreciate your opinions, feedback, or brickbats.

It's A Ho! Ho! Ho! December.

Some nice X'mas music to get in the the holidays mood.

Yep, folks! We are drawing the curtains to the year 2009. It's being a financially challenging year for many, but hope fully, most of us can find solace in hifi and music. As this month is full of holidays, even in sunny Malaysia, we at HiFi-Unlimited also take some time off to reflect on the year behind, and what a bountiful year it was, hifi wise. I could not remember a time in my short hifi journey, where there's so many events and new products being brought in to these shores.

As we wind up the year, there will be only two equipment on test this month. We have the following on test this month:

Metronome Technologie CD One T Signature. This new high end arrival has show great sonic promises so far in our auditions at CMY Audio & Visual showrooms. We take this baby home for a spin.

We are still on integrated amps this month, and a tube pedigree one at that, it's the Manley stereo integrated amp with 2 x 40 watts on tap in ultra linear mode.

We may have a few surprises in store if things works our way.

Whilst my digital front is languishing in the store room, awaiting for parts, I've still not able to source a VAM1252, Philips CD Pro mechanism yet, despite some interesting leads. My other musical source, namely the black art of vinyl, has taken a whole new lease of life.

Last but not least, may the new year bring us new hifi ideas and endeavours, and may we all have filling rice bowls for 2010 too!

November Suprises!

Well from the humour above, hopefully it has nothing, what so ever to do with the hifi equipments in your hands. He!He!

This month will see us playing with a few things certain with a few surprises in store during the month. Just like last month's un announced arrival in the form of the wonderfully musical Pathos Endorfin top range CD player.

Speaking of "form", we also have a pair of Marten Design Form Tower speakers on review. It's quite a knock out too!

Whilst still on the subject of speakers, I'll try and have a go at one of the "big bad boy" of PMC, called OB1(Kenobi of Star Wars, remember? , sorry, I just can't resist that!)i. It's quite possibly the largest speaker to enter service in my tiny 32 meter squared capacity room, but James of AV Designs is pretty confident that the PMC OB1i will perform well.

We also have the first ever Chinese made Krell, no, not those Jungson amps but the real deal in the form of S-300i integrated amp. This Krell also has i Pod connectivity too, cool!

Also latest from Esoteric, we test drive the newly arrive stereo SA-50 CD/SACD player.

Now, how can we, the self proclaimed cable guys not have any cables to play? Well, fret not. We play with another member of the Siltech Classic Anniversary series, the SPX-300 power cord.

We also have some budget hifi nuggets for those who just wants some nice, effective tweaks to play with. We have Auralex foam diffuser panels and some Cardas Golden Cuboids tweaks on trial.

We may also test drive a few other un announced surprises too!

October Options.

For October, we have quite a few stuff stacked up for reviews covering a wide range of audio products.

More Ayre? Yes, if you thought we were impressed by the Ayre CX-7eMP CD player last month, wait till you hear what Odiosleuth have to say about it's bigger battle ship like built quality brother, the C-5exMP Multi Player! I hear that he is experiencing "Sleepless in Bandar Utama" since? He!He!(I do my cheeky laugh!)

I have been dreaming about the Bladelius Saga pre amp since I last heard it in my system, I certainly could not afford it with my legitimate only income! So I asked Eugene of Audiomatic, "how about the next model down, the Bladelius Idun?" And here it was playing in my room. Is it very nearly as good as the Saga? Hang around to find out.

More Stello? Yes to that too, we haven't forgotten our pledge to review at least one affordable audio product each month. If you want a neat all in one lifestyle based hifi system to match with speakers of your choice, let's see if the Stello Aura Note is good enough to satisfy us?

Siltech's back too, in the form of the ST-18 budget interconnects. We test the XLR version to see if it's a real hifi bargain, and how far it's performance can be improved with the addition of the Siltech Jade Zero Ohm Link?

Last but not least, we've got Acoustic System Resonator Cups on trial too, but with a twist!

It's gonna be a busy month!

Digital September!

We are going to feature digital hifi for September! Digital in hifi has come a long, long way since the CD player and have made technical progress by leaps and bounds. But are they sonically good enough for high end audio connoisseurs?

Odiosleuth has already let one cat out of the bag by posting a teaser of the Jeff Rowland 201 Class D power amp. We have more to come in the form of a Jeff Rowland Capri pre amp which is volume chip and op-amp based.

On the digital front end, we have lined up the budget busting but also possibly giant killing?, Stello CDt 100 & DA 100 Signature pair. And lastly but surely, watch out for the stunning face lifted Ayre CX-7e MP CD player, because some curious minded one took a listen and curiosity killed the cat! It's that dangerously good!

Also watch out for our special feature of Power Line Conditioner grading! Yes, there is now a device available to check if your power conditioner works as advertised! The findings will also shock you about the quality of our TNB power grid A/C supply. Now we already know it's pretty bad, but nothing can prepare you about our findings to come!

Also watch out for the first of our many exciting home visits. This system lets you have your cake and eat it too, cream and all, non-fat!

We'll try to do more if time allows, but as it is, I think we're definitely in for an exciting hifi month. Stay tuned!
